23 Jul 2008The investment company of the founders of Skype, Ambient Sound Investments finances two innovative companies in Western Europe, both founded by former Yahoo! executives.
One of these companies is a modern web-based real estate bureau in Paris, capital of France. They call it Drimki.
Drimki is not just a website, that sells real estate. It offers unique tools, such as geolocation for finding the most suitable properties in Paris. Interactive maps not only give information about location of the property, but provide also analysis on price dynamics in the region during past 1-5 years, show closest shops, kindergartens, bus stops, health facilities etc.
Real estate brokerage through technology gives buyers better understanding of practical value of the property. For sellers it provides opportunities to understand true market value and interest on a property, before it’s up for sale.
Drimki.fr will be launched this month.
The other company, funded by Skype founders is UK based health, beauty and wellness ecosystem Wahanda.com. Company, run by former executive of Lastminute.com Lopo Champalimaud offers comprehensive listings of spas, salons and health centres all around the globe. Everything one needs to know about treatments, classes and therapies. Even where your nearest spa is.
Wahanda is looking to revolutionise the way consumers search and book health and beauty treatments by connecting businesses, customers and therapists.
Ambient Sound Investments declines to comment both deals at this point of time. The investment group has already 20 companies in its portfolio and eyes on technology start-ups, spanning from software and services to applications and devices. Four founding engineers of Skype are in the team – Toivo Annus, Jaan Tallinn, Ahti Heinla ja Priit Kasesalu. All of them having background in technology and finance.
