12 Sep 2008The very best Estonian hotels, restaurants, spas and sightseeings will soon be introduced via a new and innovative location-based Web TV program VisioLocal.com (don’t go there, it is not running yet!)
VisioLocal.com will be open by the end of the year, providing a visual overview of local services and products through video, maps, photos and only a limited amount of text.
Estonia, one of the smallest countries in Europe with a population of 1.3 million only, has been attracting tourists from around the world, mostly because of its marvelous nature and tiny but innovative economy.
The penetration of e-services in “The Skype, Kazaa and Carmen Kass Country”, for example, is wide-spread.
Soon you no longer need to panic when searching the web for preferences about Estonia before your trip. VisioLocal.com will introduce to you the best of Estonia, making it much easier to plan your trip.
Visiolocal.com is just one of the products the company VisioFly is developing in Tartu Science Park. Maris Saar, one of the founders of VisioFly says other visual content products will follow under VisioFly.com (that one you can visit already), for example more attractive airborne content from the air, 360-degree video, mobile visual content, professional content services etc.
“The first service VisioLocal.com is targeted to local and foreign visitors. It is for visual marketing of local destinations and businesses, using video as key medium. Short interactive promotional videos are created and published via our portal and customers own homepages. All the provided visual information is geo-located,” Saar says.
VisioLocal’s target group is end-users, who are searching for local services. At first it will mainly cover visitor-oriented businesses like accommodation, restaurants, entertainment, but the portal will extend to other local services. The pilot project will cover Estonia, but in the next phases the other markets will be targeted also.
So whoever wants to be visually promoted by the Web TV solution of VisioFly, let us know.
According to Saar the Internet is full of advertisement and sales-oriented offerings, but very few of these give visual information about the destinations in geographically organized way. “Video is a very good media to cover this niche,” she claims.
Businesses that want to get listed in VisioLocal.com will pay yearly fee. Later on the end-user targeted advertising may be added, to support adding business-unrelated content.
VisioFly was founded by Estonian entrepreneurs Viljar Lokk, Maris Saar and Jaak Laineste.
