Former Skype engineers to provide all-in-one tool for software developers

suinfra1The founding members of Skype engineering and operations team, headed by Toivo Annus have established SUInfra – company that offers all-in-one web tool for small software developers.

SUInfra, currently in beta-stage development, claims to be a solid and simple web environment, integrating bug tracking, wiki, SVN and other useful services. All in one web, no install, no setup.

“To start developing software, you need to find or establish whole set of different services (from bug tracking until statistics system etc),” says Edgar Maloverjan, one of the Founders of SUInfra. “You find separate providers and buy the services in. And then find yourself having two servers, five services, seven URL’s and ten passwords!”

Maloverjan continues: “Things will get even worse when you are engaged with different projects in different roles. You are writing code in one project, counsulting in another etc.

We mixed together different open source components and created a new user interface. And people seem to be satisfied!”

Maloverjan is not aware of any other company, providing anything similar. SUInfra, he says, is used by about a dozen Estonian start-ups already, before the official launch.

SUInfra will most probably go public in course of this year and start offering  a subscription model.

The official idea behind SUInfra is quite interesting: to share best ideas and practices of Skype development culture with us (you and me) and make software development and collaboration easier.

It seems great, I wonder whether it would be similar to the sites like this: http://unfuddle.com/ or this: http://www.codespaces.com/

It is odd to read so many start-up founders say how they are not aware of anyone “providing anything similar”. A simple google search uncovers a plethora of service providers whose business *sounds* very similar. What is SUInfra’s advantage? Is there some advantage *beyond* being a local provider?
