Estonian based startup Propaganda LLC has recently released to the public a web-based social media utility WhosRich.
WhosRich makes it fun and easy for people to track their friends’ shopping habits. The utility gives eager shoppers a scene to exhibit publicly their purchases and receive feedback from mates.
Tigeprises interviewed the founder of Whosrich Kaarel Kala (pictured).
Tigerprises: How big is your userbase today? Are people already showing off what they are buying or are they only checking what others are buying? Should we believe their claims of buying really expensive stuff?
Kaarel Kala: At the moment it is too early to provide any conclusions regarding the userbase and the user behaviour, as the site has been open to public for less than 2 weeks. WhosRich aim is to cater equally for both user groups – the ones looking to publish their purchases and the ones desiring just to follow what people are buying.
The integrity of the users posting on the site is up to other users to decide and react upon. Users who begin to flood the system with posts of stuff they probably haven’t bought will be ignored and most likely not followed by other users.
TP: Do you target international markets, interest and members?
KK: Today WhosRich is not targeting any specific market. As the idea of our social utility is genuine it will become clear over time which exact user groups in which locations are the most active users of the service.
TP: Why do people join the whosrich service? Does vanity rule?
KK: People join WhosRich for two particular reasons: 1.People are eager to receive feedback on their purchases and want to display publicly how trendy consumers they are. 2. People like to know what others are doing, including how their friends and idols are spending their money.
TP: What is the ultimate goal of whosrich service? Do you have a mission?
KK: WhosRich mission is to streamline the information flow between consumers around the world.
TP: Is whosrich a money making project or just fun? Do you plan to make money through advertising?
WhosRich is a free service and will remain so also in the future. It is too early to comment on other plans.
TP: Why should someone join “yet anothe social network? Or do you have or plan integrations with existing social networks?
People join WhosRich because it is the most easy and fun way of displaying one’s shopping habits and following other shoppers around the world.
TP: If I buy a really expensive thing and show it off on whosrich then doesn’t it make the life of thief’s or robbers easier?
Similar to any other online service, the users need to be aware of the risks related to sharing of personal information on the Internet.
Tigeprises: Thank you Kaarel! Dear readers if you are interested in what other people are buying then go check it out on whosrich.me. There are already hundreds of members in the social network and tens of people exposing their purchases from puzzles, books and gasoline up to expensive Nespresso machines.
