The Silicon Valley innovation center in the US is attracting ambitious Estonian companies like a magnet.
A number of Estonian undertakings are looking to open their representations in the area and thus plant roots in the US market, among them software company Programeter (formerly SourceKibitzer).
Programeter, the developer of programmer performance measuring software, is seen as possessing high global potential. Mark Kofman, one of the company’s owners, reveals that preparations are underway for the opening of a representation in Sunnyvale, Silicon Valley.
Programeter is a management tool enabling remote software development teams to increase team visibility and transparency based on meaningful indicators. It helps understanding the remote programming team’s know-how, contribution, performance and activity based on simple, accurate and real-time reports.
Programeter software is currently utilized by a number of clients, among others, for example, software company GridGain. “With a help of Programeter we have achieved much better visibility and understanding of internal under-currents in development team; unique perspective on team collaboration and inter-dependencies is very valuable for our company too. It also gave us a unique mapping between “humans” and repository. There is no direct alternative to Programeter to my knowledge,” says Nikita Ivanov, the CEO of GridGain.
According to Mark Kofman the solution is very helpful for undertakings that engage in outsourcing a lot. “USA and especially Silicon Valley have a high concentration of such companies. Thus Programeter will be very popular in the area,” Kofman believes.
Not long ago Programeter received an investment of 200,000 EUR from Ambient Sound Investments - the investment company of the founders of Skype, and the Andrei Korobeinik, the founder of Rate.ee.
Silicon Valley is familiar playground for Estonian companies such as terminal solutions developer Artec Group and micro needle producer Mikromasch. Radio communications technology developer Modesat Communications is also thinking of setting up a representation in the Valley.
